第53屆金馬獎年度廣告由導演趙德胤、陳哲藝、畢贛各拍１支，９月30日曝光陳哲藝執導、張震主演的版本，以《牯嶺街少年殺人事件》為題，片中讓39歲的張震和14歲的張震在時空中交會。提到拍攝，張震說首次跟陳哲藝合作，雖需要時間磨合，但整體感覺新鮮，更感謝導演楊德昌當年的帶領。
對張震來說，25年後重返拍片場景，往事歷歷在目，「他（楊德昌）改變我的一生，讓我對電影產生興趣，若沒有導演的提拔，現在也不會當演員。」也說藉由這支短片，將導演楊德昌的故事、精神傳承下去，讓更多人知道。
今年適逢《牯嶺街》放映25周年，陳哲藝表示該片為他心中「華語影片之冠」，想藉此向楊德昌致敬。他說當初接到「金馬53」的廣告任務，心中壓力極大，是近年來「最難的一份功課」。他曾以《爸媽不在家》奪下「金馬50」最佳影片、新導演等大獎，看到崇拜的大師如侯孝賢、蔡明亮，近年都陸續幫金馬拍攝年度廣告，期許自己也能拍出金馬獎精神及對電影的熱愛。
